Be
a Volunteer There are so many opportunities for passionate volunteers to contribute to the raising and training of these unique and special service dogs. Currently C.O.P.E. has volunteer positions available for: Puppy Petters Because, our future puppies-in-training need to be touched, played with, talked to, exercised, groomed and generally LOVED! Puppy Raisers Because, C.O.P.E. puppies-in-training are placed with Puppy Raisers from the time they are 7-8 weeks old, until they are matched with their life partner, or move on to do their lifes work approximately 2 years later. Puppy Sitters Because, our Puppy Raisers need back-up when they are unable to keep their puppy for short periods of time due to planned vacations or travel, or a temporary unplanned change in circumstances. During these times, the C.O.P.E. puppy-in-training would stay with a Puppy Sitter. Puppy Raisers for our breeding dogs Because, we need Puppy Raisers for puppies not necessarily destined to be working dogs, but are specially selected to maintain and improve the C.O.P.E. breeding program. This form of puppy raiser is still required to abide by the same guidelines as regular Puppy Raisers. Although these dogs will not participate in High Schooled Assistance Dog Program and therefore do not require transportation to this program, these precious future parents must also be socialized and specially trained during their puppyhood.
