Brian suffered a severe (neck) C3-4 crushed and partially severed spinal cord from degenerative discs. He was left fully paralyzed from the neck down on his left side and partially on his right. It took almost two years for Brian to learn to walk again. When asked how Yorkie has changed his life, here’s what he had to say:
“YORKIE… My boy…. My friend… My support when I need it. I can’t thank you enough for what you do for me. That simple thing you do by picking something up for me saves me from the pain and suffering it would cause. The way you jump up in the morning and grab my socks and clothes for me… And your happy and eager attitude to get up and get going starts my day off with a smile. The way you just know… when I need help. Half way down the stairs or going up you stop and just know I need you. Yorkie you are my everything… I couldn’t go very far without you… You are my confidence. And when you wear your gear… We really become one with each other. You offset my balance issues and give me the counter balance I need to walk.
I never imagined that I would have to struggle with standing and walking. And struggling to pick something up. With Yorkie now in my life I feel a sense of relief and a much-needed boost in the desire to LIVE again”.
